Mission Statement:

The goal of the Canadian Pond Hockey Outreach Program is to be global ambassadors for the game of hockey by inviting players, who otherwise wouldn’t have the opportunity, for an all expense paid trip to North Bay, Ontario, and allow them the opportunity to play the game of hockey the way it all began; on a pond, with some friends, having fun!

As you likely know North Bay was named Hockeyville in 2007. But did you know the foundation for the winning bid started at the Canadian Pond Hockey Face-off?

In January of 2006 our Pond Hockey Committee decided to do something special in our inaugural year by creating a one-of-a-kind pond hockey outreach program. So in February of 2006 thanks to generous sponsors we were able to bring five Hurricane Katrina survivors from Mississippi and Louisiana to North Bay’s first ever pond hockey tournament at the Education Centre pond behind Canadore College. The group of Peewee aged players from the Gulf Coast came to North Bay with expectations of a trip of a lifetime and left with stories of a trip of a lifetime.

In 2007, thanks to generous sponsors we brought some First Nations peewee aged players from Moose Factory and Moosonee to our 2nd annual event. They had a tremendous time and got featured in North Bay’s Hockeyville Feature which aired nationally on the Hockeyville Top 10 show in early March of 2007.

In 2008, the Canadian Pond Hockey Face-Off wants to continue this Pond Hockey Outreach legacy and we hope it continues to be a huge part of the Pond Hockey experience for years to come every February at the Canadian Pond Hockey Face-Off in North Bay, Ontario.
